Female pattern hair loss usually shows as a widening part and less volume on top, while the front hairline stays. Doctors grade it with the Ludwig scale (I to III)[1].

Topical minoxidil is the first-line treatment. PH women describe hesitating over lifetime cost and pets[2]; our female hair loss guide covers both.

What people worry about

In readers' own words, from Filipino Reddit threads. Then our answer.

Stop and you lose it“Babalik ba sa kalbo pag tinigil?”

Yes, for pattern hair loss both finasteride and minoxidil work only while you use them. Hair gained is usually lost over several months after stopping. That is why the lifetime cost matters more than the first bottle.[3][4][5]

Minoxidil and pets“Delikado ba sa pusa ang minoxidil?”

Cats are highly sensitive to minoxidil, and small exposures from licking treated skin, pillows or spills have caused serious poisoning. Let it dry fully, wash your hands, keep pets off your pillow and store it out of reach. If a pet may have been exposed, go to a vet immediately.[6][7][8]

Oral minoxidil body hair“Workmates tease me as Arab or Indian now.”

Unwanted facial and body hair is the most common side effect of low-dose oral minoxidil, reported by about 15% of patients in the largest safety study. It matters more for women. Topical minoxidil causes it less often. This is a planning decision to make with your doctor before starting.[9][10]
