Male pattern loss follows a predictable map: the temples recede, the crown thins, and the two can meet. Clinicians describe it with the Norwood scale from 1 to 7. It is driven by genes and DHT, which is why people say "lahi kasi namin"[1].
The well-studied treatments are finasteride and minoxidil. Both work best early and only while used[2]. Try the Norwood self-check to see where you are.
What people worry about
In readers' own words, from Filipino Reddit threads. Then our answer.
Stop and you lose it“Babalik ba sa kalbo pag tinigil?”
Lifetime cost“Mahal, sakit sa bulsa.”
Finasteride and sex drive“Nakaka-apekto ba sa manoy?”
In the main finasteride 1mg trials, sexual side effects were reported by a small minority of men, only slightly more often than with placebo, and most resolved after stopping. Expecting side effects can itself cause them (the nocebo effect). ED means erectile dysfunction: trouble getting or keeping an erection. If it happens, see a doctor rather than adjusting the dose yourself.[9][3][10]
The minoxidil dread shed“Bakit mas lumalagas nung nag-minox ako?”
Extra shedding in the first weeks of minoxidil is common and listed on the product label. Minoxidil pushes resting hairs out so new growth can start. Most people judge results at about 4 months, not at month 2. Shedding that is patchy, painful or lasts beyond that window is a reason to see a dermatologist.[4][12][13]

A PDS board-certified dermatologist can confirm the diagnosis. Consults are commonly reported in the range shown on our price table, and many HMOs cover them at accredited hospitals.
