Exosome hair treatment in the Philippines

Updated 27 Oct 2026Prices checked October 2026HairlineCrownMid-scalp
Quick answer

Exosome hair treatments apply or inject tiny cell-derived vesicles into the scalp, and Belo lists its ExoScalp from ₱19,800 per session. The research so far is mostly lab work and small case series, with no large controlled trials in hair loss[1]. We found no first-hand Filipino reports of results, so treat it as experimental and expensive.

What exosomes are

Exosomes are tiny packets that cells release to signal other cells. They carry proteins and genetic material. Clinics sell exosome products, often derived from stem cells grown in a lab, as a regenerative scalp treatment, usually applied after microneedling or injected[1]. The pitch is similar to PRP: deliver growth signals to weak follicles. The difference is that PRP comes from your own blood, while exosomes come from a manufactured product.

Some clinics describe their product as "stem cell" treatment, others as "growth factor" or "secretome" therapy. These are related but not identical, and none of the labels tells you how well a specific product works. Ask to see the product box or data sheet so you know what you are paying for.

What the research shows

Exosome research for hair is early. Most published work is in cells and animals, plus small case series and pilot studies in people, without large randomized controlled trials[1]. Products differ in their source cells, processing and dose, so a result with one product does not transfer to another.

Regulators have urged caution. The US FDA has warned that no exosome products are approved there for treating diseases and that people have been harmed by unapproved products, mostly when injected[3]. [TODO: check PH FDA status of exosome products used in PH clinics].

What PH users say

Our research across PH hair loss threads found no Filipino first-hand reports of exosome hair results, from Belo or anyone else. Belo's Reddit reputation comes from skin threads, where users describe it as expensive and upsell-prone[4]. That does not mean the treatment fails. It means there is little independent experience to go on.

For comparison, PH users describe PRP, an older and more studied procedure, as an expensive add-on to finasteride and minoxidil rather than a fix on its own[2]. The same logic applies more strongly to exosomes.

Clinic hard sells“I wasted 120k in Svenson and nothing happened.”

Several users describe free consults that turn into large packages with no lab tests and no doctor. A PDS board-certified dermatologist can diagnose the cause, order tests and prescribe first-line treatment for the price of a consult. Ask who will examine you and whether they are a licensed physician before paying.[5][6][7]

How to judge a result if you try it

Take standard photos before the first session and every month after, in the same light and with the same hair length. Do not start other treatments at the same time if you want to know whether the exosomes helped. Give it several months, since hair grows slowly. If there is no visible change after the series the clinic recommended, do not let it be extended indefinitely. Ask for a review with the doctor and consider proven options.

Keep the receipts and the product details. If you have a reaction, such as swelling, lumps or infection at the treatment site, see a doctor and bring that information with you.

Questions to ask before you pay

  1. What exactly is the product, who makes it, and what cells does it come from?
  2. Is the product registered with the PH FDA? Can I see the registration?
  3. Will it be applied after microneedling or injected, and by whom? Is that person a licensed physician?
  4. How many sessions, at what total price, and what happens if I stop?
  5. What published evidence supports this product for hair loss?
  6. Should I be on minoxidil or finasteride first?

You can check registered health products on the FDA verification portal[8] and a physician's license on the PRC site[9].

Clinics often combine these, for example microneedling followed by an exosome serum. That makes it even harder to know which part did what. Read the PRP guide and the derma roller guide for more on each.

Who might consider it, and who should not

  • Might consider: someone already stable on finasteride or minoxidil, with money to spare, who understands it is experimental.
  • Should wait: anyone with shedding after illness, giving birth or a crash diet. That usually settles by itself[14].
  • Should see a derm first: anyone with patchy loss, scalp pain, redness or scarring[15][16].
  • Should ask extra questions: anyone pregnant or breastfeeding, or with a history of cancer or immune conditions, since these products carry biological material and have little safety data.

Women who cannot use finasteride sometimes look at exosomes as an alternative. Topical minoxidil has far more evidence for women[17], and some derms use spironolactone[18]. See the female hair loss guide.

Start with what is proven

Finasteride and minoxidil have large randomized trials behind them[19][20] and cost a fraction of a single exosome session per month. A dermatologist consult at ₱400 to ₱1,000 can confirm your diagnosis first[7]. Sudden shedding after illness or giving birth usually settles without any procedure[14]; take the hairfall self-check.
